It’s always exciting to hear our team’s stories when they return from buying trips.
We’re eager to know what’s new, and what we might be seeing in store and online in future seasons.
So here’s a sneak preview for you too, following recent London trips to the trade show Scoop London.
Kate Hartwell and Claire Southgate look ahead to the trends and collections we’ll be welcoming to Javelin in spring/summer 2023 (yes really!).
Q What style trends did you spot that you will be picking up on for Javelin customers?
A Linen is a huge trend: for example, we selected some neutral linen suits from Part Two.
And in fact, suits generally will be strong next year. We chose a white one from Bruuns Bazaar; green and pink from Vilagallo.
There are some gorgeous broderie anglaise dresses and blouses coming in and also pieces with lots of embellishment. We spotted embroidery from brands like Dream and Rose & Rose which we loved and continues a trend that has already, this year, been very popular with Javelin clients.
Look out for bright and fun knits. We were cheered up by some smiley faces on knitwear from Brodie!
Q Which colours were leading the field?
A Hot pink, apple green, lavender, and a muted yellow and beige combination which is very appealing. It's all about positivity and optimism!
Q Are there any new-to-Javelin labels we can look out for?
A We selected a really great collection: FRNCH. Lots of cute prints, amazing colours and styles. It’s going to be brilliant for building outfits and will look so fresh when it arrives.
Vilagallo - a returning brand for us, characterised by beautiful, bright colours and fun prints.
Pyrus is another label we have had before, but is making a welcome comeback: stunning silk-mix printed dresses and shirts.
And Brodie cashmere will be a great addition: gorgeous knits enhanced with pops of neon.
Q What one outfit did you see that you would love to have in your own wardrobe?
A Claire: I loved the dresses we bought from Vilagallo. There was a black shirt dress with the most amazing neon-coloured blurred aztec print. It was so unique. I think it would be a really versatile piece, worn either as a dress or open with white tee and jeans.
A Kate: A fantastic pair of wide-legged printed trousers from Aspiga with an apple green linen shirt from Part Two.
Q How about shoes? What will we be striding out in next autumn?
A We bought some wonderful wedges in popping colours which will really complement the collections. And P448 trainers are looking great; we fell for the soft pinks and green colour combos.
Q What’s the overall verdict from your trip?
A We know what works for us and our customers when it comes to selecting from the brands we already work with. So it’s always lovely to see what they have that’s new and exciting. There’s also a real thrill that comes from discovering a new label that you just know will be well received at Javelin. Watch this space, there is a lot to look forward to!
Cheers to another productive buying trip!
