‘Designers felt quite rightly that what should be celebrated is clothes that make you smile or that you wanted to have fun with’ Anna Wintour – Vogue editor-in-chief

At Javelin we are predicting that Spring/Summer 2018 is going to be the season of ‘feel good fashion’ with everything from sparkles, tassels and feathers feeding through to form the foundations of our wardrobe for the new season. It seems like a life time since we had all the sparkles and exciting new looks out for our Christmas wardrobe, yet we come bearing great news. Here at Javelin, we are happy to keep you in with this season latest trends whether it be summer sequins, the return of the pastel shades or the celebration of working woman and her need for multiple bags.

The colour palette for Spring/Summer encourages a sense of fun and playful release. With an air of complexity and distinctiveness which encourages more unique and dramatic colour mixing. Ice cream hues are expected to be big this season, layering up in top to toe pastel colours as seen on the Spring/Summer 2018 fashion shows, with these sorbet colour at Hermes and Victoria Beckham. We’re predicting this colour trend will be big at Javelin with gorgeous cropped cable knits in our Womenswear department to the summer puffers and asymmetrical patterns from Menswear brand Lyle and Scott; the perfect coverups for any sudden change of weather this season. In the Boutique, we have coloured knitwear in ultra-soft fabrics bought in from Charli, and minimal tops and blouses by Samsoe & Samsoe in these three comparable key shades from London Fashion week; Nile Green, Meadowlark and Rapture Rose.

Challenging the Pastel colours this season are the bright colours from Autumn/Winter which are coming through into Spring in a primary palette. Our Boutique brand Marella has adopted the red colour trend for this season in their evening wear. Their statement piece for the season has got to be the red double-breasted trench coat which we will be coming into store in the next few weeks, we would style it by mixing and matching our bright primary colours and wearing them head-to-toe for a colour pop look. Primary reds and yellows are also coming through at French Connection with new textures and details. Combine pastel pinks with bright reds for a key look this season.

Emerging as the standout pattern of the season, there was plaid for everyone on the runway from classic tartan to tiny gingham-inspired checks. Our brand Marella’s gingham print comes through in a flared midi skirt and ¾ length flounce sleeve blouse. We predict flounce sleeves will be big this season with the trend following through in Ted Baker’s Spring/Summer partywear, with a fun, oversized twist.

Ted Baker Lucila dress coming soon.

This season florals are going to be bigger and bolder than ever, and Ted Baker hasn’t disappointed us with their latest floral prints, scaled up and printed onto dresses, t-shirts, trousers and skirts. Our prints from Mercy Delta and Pyrus aren’t shy either with bright stand out animal prints, a great statement piece to uplift an outfit.

Designers are fussing over all the trimmings for spring. From marabou ripples on hems at Marques’Almeida, to fringing on everything at Jacquemus. Fringe brought out the playful side in our brand Marella with their glamourous fringe polka dot top coming into Javelin soon. Textured summer tops and beachwear are filtering through in our boutique brand Bl^nk, proving that summer sequins can be worn even by the most hesitant. The Grazia Top has the most exquisite detailing around the neck line and is available in grey and pink. The ever hopefulness of some summer sun whether your holidaying abroad or staying in good old blighty will make sure every day is shining, even if there is no sun.

The most exciting trend of all this Spring Summer has got to be the celebration of the working woman and our need for multiple bags. Seen on the catwalk shows of Chanel and Gucci, a handbag followed with a clutch is the way forward to stay trendy this season. Our favourite styles here at Javelin have got to be from Fiorelli, they encompass both fashion and practicality. The Fiorelli Boo Oval Bag is the perfect accessory to hold every girl’s essentials, keeping up with the fun and playful trends this SS18. Paired with the revived bucket bag with alternative wrist held straps from Joseph, the working woman never looked so good.
