Boutique store set to raise thousands to support Suffolk children

Vulnerable children in Suffolk are set to benefit from a unique fundraising event being held by a local store that is celebrating its 30th anniversary in Bury St Edmunds this year.

Javelin, a boutique store in Abbeygate Street, is holding its 30th birthday party on Thursday 10th October and all proceeds from the event will go to children’s charity Barnardo’s for supporting children in Suffolk.

The evening will begin at 7pm at the store with a cocktail and shopping event and will be followed by a party at Gatsrono-me which will include a fashion show and music by a top London DJ.

The Suffolk Barnardo’s Helpers Group (BHG) in Bury St Edmunds has been fundraising in the local area for over 30 years and will be receiving the funds raised by the Javelin event.

Emma Stamper from Suffolk BHG said:

“We are delighted that Javelin is donating all of the proceeds from this event to Barnardo’s. The money will be used to support local children and young people by introducing the Barnardo’s Invisible Lives service to Suffolk for the first time which is fantastic.”

The Invisible Lives service already operates across Essex and aims to reduce anti-social behaviours and criminal activities. It educates young people about the dangers of childhood sexual exploitation, drugs, knife crime, gang cultures and more.

Jeremy Clayton from Javelin said:

“We are so excited to be making such a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in Suffolk. We hope to raise at least £5000 from this fantastic evening so we urge everyone to come along and have a great time, whilst also raising vital funds to benefit local children.”

Tickets cost £20 per person and can be purchased online at javelinonline/30th-birthday-party-ticket or in store. Golden prize tickets can also be purchased throughout the evening and there will be lots of exciting prizes to win.

Javelin sells a unique selection of brands, across clothing, accessories, jewellery, gifts and more. Formerly a sports retailer, opening in 1989, Javelin has evolved and developed with fashion trends, new brands and customer needs. The Javelin brand continues to grow, now occupying two stores; the flagship Bury St Edmunds store and the Sudbury store with Espresso Bar incorporating the Javelin Outlet, also available online at javelinonline.co.uk
